Canvas Painting – My First 2 as a Hobby Painter

Never in my life would I have thought I could paint anything, I thought it had to be a born talent. Recently I took up Canvas Painting, just as a hobby.

While I am not very good at it and I am still learning techniques and what brush to use for what, I have painted two small painting.

These shown below are my very first paintings. I watch a few others painters on YouTube and followed along. You will find links to their channels at the end of this post.

Canvas Painting – Supplies

I am not using any expensive supplies at the moment. My brushes came in a set called Artist’s Loft and my paint was just some I grabbed at Dollar Tree.

There are better acrylic paints I want to get but just haven’t got them yet.

And as far as canvases, I actually prefer the canvas boards so that I can put them in a frame of my own.

The canvas painting above was my very first one that I did for Valentine’s Day. It was done on a stretched canvas.

It actually came over better than I thought it would, considering I have never painted before.

The flower paining (called a “Field of Flowers) above was my second painting, all done with a palette knife. I was scared of this technique but it was actually easier that I thought.

I framed this one in a black frame (shown below) and a friend of mine loved it and wanted it in her home, so I gave it to her.

Canvas Painters that I follow on YouTube

All three of these painters are my favorite and each have their own style. They are very easy to learn from.

I recommend checking them out and give some of their painting a try or go find others that you might be able to relate too.
