Cherokee Trace Drive-Thru Safari in Jacksonville Texas
Even though this Drive-Thru Safari has been opened in East Texas for many years (and I have been here all my life), I had never been until the summer of 2020.
While my grandkids where in town visiting with me, I was looking into something fun for them to do and this was the first thing to come to mind.
So off we go….
Experience Cherokee Trace Drive-Thru Safari
Just east of Jacksonville, TX, sits a 300-acre preserve and drive-thru safari wildlife park that is home to an amazing variety of wildlife.
You will see over two dozen exotic and endangered species that thrive in an open habitat similar to their native territory.
Driving through at your own pace, enjoy a self-guided drive through the hills and open savannahs.
You get to observe, feed, and photograph these beautiful creatures from the comfort of your own vehicle
I had no idea what to expect when I went there, I honestly thought once we entered the park, it would be only 30 minutes and we done.
I had no clue how much fun this would really be.
Once you go in an pay, you are given a bag of food per person in the car to feed to the animals, pamphlets and rules/instructions.
The whole drive-thru zoo lasted for about 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours and it was an amazing experience.
I have posted so many photos here of lot’s of the animals but there was many more.
My granddaughters favorite animal is the Llama and we had one enter the car to get close to the food, she loved it.
Also had my grandson with me and he was loving that he could feed the animals. My granddaughter said “This is the best day ever” 🙂
We also had the camel come straight into the car and try and steal the whole back of food, it was hilarious.
